I am ammending my rating to 1 star from 3 after having the soil in my garden for awhile. I have to spend time twice a day picking newly emerging weeds that were brought in with the “garden mix”. I am concerned that the soil also carried pests and diseases to my newly prepped garden. The areas where I used bagged soil is not a constant source of new weeds. This really seems to be nothing more than recycled construction back fill with some compost added.
**The driver was on time and courteous. I had ordered the garden mix to go over top of my my very compacted clay soil instead of trying to till it. I should have just ordered the compost as the garden mix was very clay(y). Probably more clay soil than compost.**

This garden mix is good. I would recommend it, it has good consistency/mix ratio. I did find bits of plastic here and there, but it’s easy to pick it off if you want to, I have purchased organic bagged compost from big box stores and have found plastic there as well, these days it’s kind of impossible not to. I would recommend Midwest compost for your garden and landscape projects, prompt delivery, affordable and good overall quality , I plan to order again this year for my next project.

Dirt was good and on time but no one asked where to put it before dumping it. Now the wrong side of the driveway is blocked for use. Please put something on the site for new customers or call ahead to ask if not indicated. Driver stated it was all my fault for not knowing there is a way to indicate where to put the dirt. Exactly as described. The only reason I didn’t give them a 5 was because they didn’t deliver on the date they were suppose to. However, when I called about it, the person I talked to also didn’t make excuses; she admitted that they had just missed the delivery which, although it was an inconvenience, I really appreciated the honesty. They also made it up to us by removing the delivery charge – something I didn’t ask for, they just did it. We will definitely use Midwest Compost again.

Ordered 5 cu yards on a Sunday evening and it was promptly delivered the next morning. Got the garden mix, it’s great stuff, nothing wrong with it. If you see the balls, just step on them, they crumbled easily so I know it’s not clay or such. Haven’t found any rocks either. 5 cu yards didn’t look like a lot to me but that’s cause it’s my first time ordering dirt by the bulk like this, and I’ve done so many barrows back and forth, that pile isn’t even halfway gone yet, so it’s plenty. Satisfied, would recommend, great price and better quality than buying those 40 lb bags for 2-3x the price.

Really happy with this mix. Way better than the garden mix I purchased from another company years ago and no competition to the bagged garbage you can buy at the store. No rocks, almost no debris, very few sticks/wood chips. There were some chunks of clay, but not bad at all. For the most part the compost was incorporated well but the chunks that remain seem like nice quality compost.
